I am not sure at the moment if its the passion for photography, or a passion for having the best gadget, or a mere "I wanna have one too" desire.. but anyways, my first Nikon D300s was a long and eagerly awaited piece of technology on my list of spends.. a delayed one due to indecisiveness over spending horrendous amounts for it.. and a bit because there wasn't anyone to bring it back from US.. her ever changing plans to the land of opportunities stabilized a bit.. some quick strategic discussions to elude customs.. and convincing ourselves that nothing can possibly go wrong - the day finally came to take the plunge! Its now, or never.. passionately waiting to lay my hands on it.. One plunge leads to another.. she was on the flight to destinations almost all across the continent on one side, and on the other, couple of buys were already in transit aligned to the destinations.. a well planned, well executed make-sure-it-gets-home strategy!
Today, finally, I have the D300s in my hands, to play with. The sheer joy of continuous high speed shutter speed of 7fps is as satisfying as hi-revs of a Honda CBR1000RR @ 12,000rpm.. or WRC Citroen played around by Sebastien Loeb or Ken Block on his Subaru Impreza WRX STi.. At first look, it feels everything is so well set and easy to click, but took me well over an hour to get the basics right! And I am still trying out various setting and controls.. next one on the agenda is experimenting with Custom Settings.. a whole new chapter.. never thought that the device would have such steep learning curve, beside the photography itself! How does a short quick course on it sounds like? I guess that is something I will consider at a later date.. Anyways.. with 16GB Extreme-III inside, I have lots-n-lots to click and feel for now.. :)
